Civil Engineering
Engineering has been an important aspect of life since the beginning of human civilization. Civil engineering is regarded as the mother of engineering and is one of the core and oldestengineering disciplines. “Our society would not be able to function as it does without the work of civil engineers”. The infrastructure that they help to build and maintain can benefit communities and individuals for generations. It was so named to distinguish it from military engineering. Civil engineering is the application of physical and scientific principles for solving the problems of society. Its history is closely linked to advances in human civilization and is basically related to the creation of various types of structures and maintenance. Lord Vishwakarma is worshiped as the creator of all structures in prehistoric period.
The Department of Civil Engineering UCER, Naini Prayagraj was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 students and increased to 120 in the year 2012-13. The department has a two storied building with six different laboratories and department is well equipped with all the necessary equipment in the laboratories as prescribed by the UPTU. The Department offers Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, a four-year comprehensive program designed by APJ AKTU, which provides the latest facilities to learn all the competitive skills of Civil Branch. The Department actively promotes curriculum development activity by updating existing courses, developing new courses and preparing resource material for teaching. It also trains the students on various modern software like AUTOCAD, STADD, SAP2000, E- Tab etc. and equipment like TOTAL STATION, G.P.S. etc., which bridges the gap of academic and professional field. The faculty of Civil Engineering at UCER is continuously making efforts to impart quality teaching at the undergraduate level to attain excellence and thus to empower students to meet the technological needs and socio-economic challenges.
The department committed to serve the society at large in the field of civil engineering with emphasis on value based state of the art technical knowledge,life-long learning, innovation and entrepreneurial skills.
An affectionate welcome to the Civil Engineering Department, UCER. The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 2008-09 with intake of 60 students with due approval from AICTE, New Delhi as an affiliated college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. In the year 2012-13 intake strength was increased to 120 seats after obtaining sanction from the authorities. Since then the department is progressing by leaps and bounds.
In the department well qualified and experienced faculties are giving their contribution in making the future of civil engineering students. Here we are not only sharing the knowledge but convey them to be in action. Different courses for upliftment of students are being conducted free of cost like GATE, CRT, TT etc. and sizeable number of students and faculty members are allowed to attend seminars, workshops, visits of different sites and organizing survey camps of students. There is a society named “SRIJAN” in the department which publishes a series of technical and literary papers. It provides the platform to student’s mind and enhances their communication skills, presence of mind and its practical application.
From 2017-18 to 2020-21 thirty students have qualified in GATE with good scores. Separate GATE classes are organizing in college campus on Saturday and Sunday. At present technical training is also providing for third year students with advanced software (STAAD.ProV8i). CRT classes and BOOT camps are organizing for placement derive.
Well-known companies (i.e. INFOSYS, Parmar Const., Wipro, IGT, Chegg India, Doubtnut, Savantis, WheelsEye, Vedantu, Mentor Boxx Co,.Think and Learn, Shubhash ray housing India, Shri Ram transport, Artech. info, Pathfront etc.) have visited in the department from last years and many students have been placed with highest package. Recently 35 students have got job offers in different companies.
We have state of the art central library with research facilities to support our academic programs and research. Our department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded.
Every year an educational tour to Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and Missouri University, Colombia, USA, is organizing for our students with theme “Build your Dreams by igniting, innovating and inspiring”. The department is continuously organizing technical seminars and webinars in association with different renowned organizations as UltraTech. Cement, Ltd., Heidelberg Cement India Ltd., OMEX etc.
I congratulate to the team of faculty members and the students for their brilliant and original efforts. I wish all the Students and Faculty a great academic career. Thank you for visiting us.
Best Wishes
